I don't know how I did this, but here it is - a promised dAr drawing, which I managed to finish and submit exactly in my 6-th anniversary of joining deviantArt :)

It took me entire week (okay... half of it, because another half I've played some games or pampered my cat, lol) of work, with many details being a real pain in the.... hand, but in the end I think it ended up with a decent-enough result.

Anyone who has no idea what 'dAr' I'm talking about: this is a "thank you" piece for this community and its content has been decided by dA members though voting in several series of polls.

You can read all about it here :pointr: teanah.deviantart.com/journal/…

In short - through voting it's been decided that I should draw two fantasy characters, located in a cave full of mysterious, violet/purple crystal: a pale grey-skinned dark elf huntress and a horned fire demon portrayed as a romantic couple... but a romantic couple that's been caught at the moment of weakness.

I realize that the demon may perhaps be not to "demonic", but since he is a fire demon, it would be rather hard for the elf to be romantically involved with him and not end up with third and fourth-degree burns... no matter how much magic there is in the air.
The concept is that this demon can have many forms, ranging from very human-like to a pure fire. He still has a few demonic features though, hehe...

I'm not sure if it's apparent in any way that the elf is a hunter - I didn't give her a bow (a standard hunting accessory), plainly because it didn't fit the composition, not to mention that I'm unsure if it would be of any use in this particular environment. The elves' clothes however, are lightweight, allow her to move around swiftly and quietly, yet are either too light for a warrior and too heavy to be a casual clothing, so - perfect of a hunter.

I have to say that I was most pleased to have a voting for elve's hair end up with people choosing 'long, fair hair' - I used it as an opportunity to draw them as light as possible.
I have to admit that I have a thing for white hair... I know that they are ridiculous, but I love them anyway <3

I had piles of sketches and ideas, which I either had to modify or scrap, due to the changes in voting, but once the "caught at the moment of weakness" position barely won with an "intense" I knew exactly what 'd like to draw...

Yeees - there's some blood and he has a knife through his palm. And her wristband is sizzling. Ain't they a troubled couple? :P

It was quite hard not to make up any story for the during the process of drawing - I even named them: meet Kyeisare and Tanaroq.
Those two are coming from different clans that live in a world consisting mostly from dark forests, deep ravines and enormous cave systems.
Many races from that world have a very strained relationship with each other - but since environment they are living in is so hostile, sometimes they have to form fragile alliances... which usually fall apart quickly and clans then spend their time hunting each other off.

They've met during such short alliance and now have a difficulty killing each other after the outbreak of yet another war between their clans - ah, so romantic ;)

The scene is supposed to be ambiguous in nature - what would happen after this moment is entirely up to you :)

This is my first critique so I hope I do this right. Eye-catching painting! I got caught up in this scene. It tells a story with just two beautiful characters and there is drama and tension between them. I like paintings that make me start asking questions about what is going on in the scene: Who is attacking whom? Why? Who is seducing whom? What is their story? And this painting does that. It made me ask questions and the more questions I asked the longer I looked at it and the more it stimulated my imagination, which is what I want from fantasy art.
Technically, is it quite well done; the figures have good proportions and smooth lines. The environment has good depth and perspective and the lighting adds to the whole effect and gives emphasis to the figures in the composition. There are lots of details but the scene is not too busy. I can't find much to nit-pick. I really like this painting.
